Dining Room Lighting and Home Decor
Finding the right dining room fixture can be a challenge. There are so many considerations when it comes to style and materials, but with a little bit of research, you'll be able to find exactly what you're looking for! For starters, consider the variety of materials that are available- metal, wood, crystal, shells and glass. Depending on the desired style- formal or casual- finishes such as black, golds, polished nickel, chrome and brass will all look great. And for low ceilings, try large flush mounted fixtures as they create drama without blocking the view. Chandeliers or pendants should never come closer than 12" to the edge of a table (or lower than 30" from above). Many people are doing linear fixtures or two large pendants over long tables now, but don't forget about more traditional options like round fixtures that were used for centuries! Finally, light layering will add another level of sophistication. Consider combining chandeliers with sconces and recessed lights towards your goal of at least 300-600 watt equivalent for adequate lighting. With these tips in mind you'll be sure to find something perfect for lighting your dining room.
